Fran Barrett (they/she) is a researcher, evaluation consultant, and workshop facilitator with ten years of experience in the arts and heritage sector and a commitment to amplifying marginalised voices through ethnographic research and community engagement.
Fran holds an MA with Distinction in Music from SOAS University of London, where they received the SOAS Masters Scholarship. Since 2023, Fran has produced impact evaluations for Arts Council funded projects including 'Songs From Home,' supporting displaced musicians, and 'A Queer Collision,' a co-produced, cross-artform performance project. Fran uses creative and interactive data-collection methods, translating findings into accessible multi-media reports that centre participant voices—sometimes literally, through podcast interviews and focus groups. As Senior Activity Programme Officer at the RSBC, they co-produce, deliver, and evaluate an activity and wellbeing programme for vision-impaired young people. Fran co-founded MINAH e.V., supporting widows in Afghanistan, and Womxnfolk, a trans-inclusive traditional music collective in Bristol.
As Research Assistant for FRY Creative, Fran brings multilingual capability, multimedia research and production skills, and a collaborative approach to evaluation, combining ethnographic expertise with a commitment to representation.
